From The Astute Blogger …
After seven months in office and the Obama/Axelrod/Rahm political juggernaut still has less than half of Obama appointees in place. What is “The One” waiting for Christmas? To quote a phrase from The Astute Blogger and one we use often, it’s “AMATEUR” hour in the White House. How could any White House be so inept? It’s deja vu all over again … welcome to 1976–1980 and the Jimmy Carter era.
As President Obama tries to turn around a summer of setbacks, he finds himself still playing without most of his own team. Seven months into his presidency, fewer than half of his top appointees are in place advancing his agenda.
Of more than 500 senior policymaking positions requiring Senate confirmation, just 43 percent have been filled so far — a reflection of a White House that grew more cautious after several nominations blew up last spring, a Senate that is intensively investigating nominees and a legislative agenda that has consumed both.
The sluggish pace has kept Mr. Obama from having his own people enacting programs central to his mission. (NY Times)
Is it any wonder why this Administration has been a colossal disaster? The Chosen One never understood that campaigning for President was different than being the President. Obama can’t find time to staff his appointees, but he can certainly find time to vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. Imagine running a Fortune 500 company with less than half of your key people in place. Now imagine running a country.
Hot Air further goes on to point out the foooowing passage from the NY Times article:
No Obama appointee is running the Transportation Security Agency, the Customs and Border Protection agency, the Drug Enforcement Administration or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Mr. Obama still does not have an intelligence chief at the Department of Homeland Security, nor a top civilian in charge of military readiness at the Pentagon.
