WHERE’S THE CHANGE … WHERE’S THE BEEF!!!
Is Barack Obama’s idea of change a political reunion of the Bill Clinton Administration? Are you telling me that there is not one capable fresh Democratic face that is able to hold a cabinet position? Wasn’t part of the Obama change to rid Washington of “insiders”? Remember this promise of change from The Chosen One?
“no political appointees in an Obama administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years.”
Barack Obama promised America change while campaigning for the presidency. For 2+ years all we hear about was a campaign slogan of “change you can believe in.” We could not discuss his associations with questionable characters although all the cockroaches seem to be coming out of the wood work after the election. Change, Change Change. What happened to those promises? If Obama’s promises of change are any indications of his picks for his White House staff and cabinet members all we can say is … Where’s the Beef? If only Clara Peller was alive today.
Welcome to Obama’s new Ad best describing his Campaign Promises of CHANGE
First we were presented with the Obama selection of hard charging Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel as White House chief of staff. Emanuel, a Clintonite who hardly embraces the qualities of “can’t we all get along” that Obama professed during the campaign. Eric Holder as Attorney General? Holder, another Clintonista who was infamous for the Bill Clinton Marc Rich pardon. Are you joking? The list goes on and on as the Obama cabinet looks less like change and more like the same old same old and a political reunion of the Bill Clinton White House.
More change in the choice of Democratic Bill Clinton era retread Tom Daschle. Obama is touting former Senator Tom Daschle for secretary of health and human. Ah President-elect Obama what happened with your promise of changing the Washington DC environment of lobbyists and conflicts of interest? Obama’s choice of Tom Daschle smacks in the face of all that Barack Obama held dear and promised Americans prior to the election. It was all about change and the end of lobbyists in DC. As Red State puts it, “Oh, and Tom Daschle is yet another un-fresh face with close associations with the Clintons. I keep waiting for Change I Can Believe In to kick in at some point, but thus far, that hope appears to be forlorn.”
President-elect Barack Obama’s selection of former Senator Tom Daschle for secretary of health and human services posed new questions on Wednesday about how broadly the new administration would apply Mr. Obama’s campaign promises to limit potential conflicts of interest among his appointees.
At issue is Mr. Daschle’s work since leaving the Senate four years ago as a board member of the Mayo Clinic and a highly paid adviser to health care clients at the law and lobbying firm Alston & Bird.
In a detailed list of campaign promises, Mr. Obama pledged that “no political appointees in an Obama administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years.”
Another Insider Named to Obama Cabinet
If you think Tom Daschle has been hanging out in South Dakota since his Senatorial defeat, think again. He’s been in Washington DC working for the firm Alston & Bird. The WaPo says he’s never been a lobbyist but admits that Alston & Bird have a lobbying arm. Of course it tends to stretch credulity that a powerful and well-connected former Senate leader would be employed by such a firm, with such an “arm” and never be called to aid in any Captiol Hill lobbying effort.
