So Michelle Obama Has Never Been Proud of America Before? Just What We Need For a First Lady

Can liberals just not help themselves?
What would possess any one from stating that they have never been proud of their country before when their husband is running for President? Talk about a truly revealing comment. If Obama’s campaign does not think that this comment is not going to come back and bite them in the butt, they better think again. I hardly think this is what we need as a First Lady. Michelle Obama … insert foot … tell us what you really think of America?
So Barack Obama’s wife has never been proud of America during her life time? That is what Michelle Obama said and no spinning from paid political campaign strategists are going to change those comments. Coming soon to your TV, a John McCain political ad if Barack Obama wins the nomination for the Democratic party.
“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” she said. “I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.”
Watch the comments yourself … Michelle Obama in her words.
Some one needs to ask Barack Obama if he feels the same. I was proud when Ronald Reagan was elected. I was proud when the US Hockey team beat the Russians in the 1980 Olympics. I was proud of our troops during Desert Storm. I was proud of Americans as we came together after 9–11. I was proud of hero’s of 9–11. I an proud of our troops that are in harms way protecting our way of life.
The RNC is already putting this commercial together, John McCain in his military uniform standing near our brave soldiers who protect our liberties, then a split screen of Michelle Obama and her comments. The response from the all but certain Republican camp of John McCain from his wife, Cindy McCain.
“I am proud of my country,” John McCain’s wife, Cindy, said at a campaign stop in Brookfield, Wis., Tuesday. “I don’t know if you heard those words earlier … but I am very proud of my country.”
The pathetic attempt at spin and damage control has already begun from the Obama camp. Please do not insult our intelligence and spin it that she was “only underscore the meaning behind her husband’s campaign.” Michelle Obama specifically stated that her comments were not … “just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,”
Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the candidate’s wife wasn’t trying to knock her country, only underscore the meaning behind her husband’s campaign.
“The point is that of course Michelle is proud of her country, which is why she and Barack talk constantly about how their story wouldn’t be possible in any other nation on Earth,” she said. “What she meant is that she’s really proud at this moment because for the first time in a long time, thousands of Americans who’ve never participated in politics before are coming out in record numbers to build a grassroots movement for change.”
Weekly Standard – Michelle’s America: Mrs. Obama talks about herself and her country.
Do these comments provide a glimpse of her general political worldview–one that is surprisingly critical of America for the wife of a presidential candidate? Or do they suggest a certain narcissism about the Obamas and their view of themselves? Or both?
Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama in patriotism flap … Cindy McCain is the hands down winner.
