Art vs Child Porn: Umm … Elton ? Pictures Seized by Police of Two Young Nude Girls Belong to Elton John (Update: Elton John Pulls Pics)

Sir Elton John, this is a far cry from The Lion King. Pictures seized at an art exhibit by British police as part of a child porn probe do in fact belong to Elton John. The picture at the forefront of the controversy is “Klara and Edda belly-dancing” by Nan Goldin.
This has been an ongoing battle and concern as to the debate of what constitutes art and what would be considered child pornography. Many have been skirting the issue of the exploitation of minors for years under the guise of art.
The question has been asked for years, where is the line between nude art and pornography. The best answer seen yet is “somewhere between good and evil”.
The picture, titled “Klara and Edda Belly-Dancing,” shows two nude girls, and was one of 149 photographs by Goldin owned by the rock star.
John confirmed his ownership in a statement on his Web site.
“The photograph exists as part of the installation as a whole and has been widely published and exhibited throughout the world,” the statement said.
“It can be found in the monograph of Ms. Goldin’s works entitled ‘The Devil’s Playground,’ has been offered for sale at Sotheby’s New York in 2002 and 2004 and has previously been exhibited in Houston, London, Madrid, New York, Portugal Warsaw and Zurich without any objections of which we are aware.” (Fox News)
UPDATE I: Elton John removes photos from gallery
A British gallery that turned over a photo of two naked girls to police amid child pornography concerns has closed the exhibition at the request of Elton John, who owns the collection.
