No Maas: Fox Sports broadcaster Bill Maas & Ex-NFL Player Charged with Drug and Gun Possession

Posted in: Bizarre,Crime,Media,Sports

In the 21st century world of the NFL it should come as no surprise when we hear about Bill_maasanother NFL individual making news headlines  for something other than a touchdown, tackle, sack or interception; but instead for a crime. The NFL news-line has become nothing more than a police blotter. Then there was Pacman Jones. However, this time its a NFL sports broadcaster. Such is the case for Bill Maas, a former NFL player and present day Sports broadcaster for FOX Sports who finds himself in a world of trouble. Bill Maas and his 27 year old passenger, Sarah J. Murphy, were arrested Friday night for drug and weapons possession..

Former NFL player and Fox Sports broadcaster Bill Maas was charged with drug possession and weapons charges following a roadside safety check.

Police found a .22-caliber revolver, 5 grams of suspected marijuana, 6 grams of suspected cocaine and 28 pills of Ecstasy. Maas and Murphy were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Maas was also booked on a charge of unlawful use of a weapon. (MSNBC)

New NFL Commissioner and Czar Roger Goodell has stated that he will crack down on players, teams and ownership for the out of control conduct that has embarrassed the image of the NFL. So what does Roger Goodell do with a network broadcaster who acts in the same manner?

“We must protect the integrity of the NFL,” commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The highest standards of conduct must be met by everyone in the NFL because it is a privilege to represent the NFL, not a right. These players, and all members of our league, have to make the right choices and decisions in their conduct on a consistent basis.” (ESPN)
