As Disbared ex-DA Nifong Faces Potential Jail Time & Criminal Charges for Duke LAX Rape … Why Did we Never Hear of the Name Michael Jermaine Burch

A motion has been filed against disbarred and ex-DA Mike Nifong that is asking that criminal charges be filed against him. If granted and found guilty, Nifong could wind up with jail time.

The 42-page motion asked the judge to hold Nifong in criminal contempt of court — particularly in his withholding of pertinent DNA evidence that would have cleared the college students — and to impose sanctions against him. If granted, the prosecutor could land in prison.

As all of this precedes one really must wonder why was it that Nifong pressed so hard against the three Duke Lacrosse player, almost no one knows who Michael Jeraine Burch is. This story is about another rape in a bathroom in Durham, NC that pretty much no ones knows of. I guess its known as the other Duke rape case.

He was charged with second-degree rape.

An 18-year-old female Duke University student told officers that in the early-morning hours of Feb. 11 a man raped her in the bathroom of 405 Gattis St. during a party.

Police have released few other details about the case, including whether Burch, who is not a Duke student, had been invited to the party or if he knew anyone there. (WRAL)

It really makes one wonder just how these two reported crimes of rape in a bathroom during a party in the same town of Durham, NC could have been handled so completely different by law enforcement, the DA and the media.

The 18-year-old accuser told investigators she was sexually assaulted about 3 a.m. in a bathroom. She went to Duke University Hospital, according to police radio reports.
