Obama continues to have a gas problem …
This morning on Fox News Sunday, GOP Presidential primary candidate Mitt Romney called on President Barack Obama to fire Obama’s Interior and Energy secretaries and the head of the Environmental Protection Agency dubbed the ‘Gas Hike Trio’. With the ever rising cost of gas being a hot button topic for all Americans, Romney called for the trio to resign or Obama to fire Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson. Watch VIDEO here.
Mitt Romney is ramping up attacks on President Obama over rising gasoline prices by calling for the firing of Obama’s Interior and Energy secretaries and the head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
The GOP presidential frontrunner dubbed them the “gas hike trio” on Fox News Sunday and at a campaign stop in Illinois Saturday night, signaling the extent to which Republicans hope to translate pump prices into a damaging political liability for Obama.
On Fox, Romney claimed that Obama’s stated desire for lower gas prices is an election-year turnabout. “The right course is they ought to be fired because the president has apparently suffered an election-year conversion,” Romney said, echoing a line of attack he unveiled the prior evening.
AAA - Avg. Gas Price $3.84
It is obvious that Barack Obama is going to have a real reelection problem if the price of gas stays the same or increases as we get closer to the 2012 election. According to AAA, gas prices are a low of $3.42 in Wyoming and a high of $4.58 in Hawaii and $4.35 in California. Presently the average cost of gas in the US in $3.829. That is up $0.262 from one year ago and up $2.00 from when Obama took office on January 20, 2008 where it was at$1.82. Of course previously Energy Secretary Chu was all for higher gas prices. It is not like Obama was not as well. This is how the two anti-oil individuals force Americans off of fossil fuels and onto their “green” energy agenda. A green agenda with government wasted stimulus money that has been a complete failure.
However, suddenly because the gas prices are actually rising in an election year Secretary Chu and President Obama have had an epiphany and are now for lower gas prices. Of course they are. One might say that Chu and Obama were for lower gas prices … before they were against them.
America, let’s really see what Obama said in his mocking of the Fox News journalist who dare ask him his position on the rising cost of gas.Obama really did not say he is against high gas prices as a whole. He prefaced his comment with “do you think the President of the United States going into re-election …” That is one of the few truths that have ever come from this President’s mouth. It is all about the reelection year that he is against high gas prices, not high gas prices in general.
When asked whether higher fuel prices would help us … Obama says he is for higher prices, they just need to be gradual.
Ed Henry, FOX News: Your critics will say on Capitol Hill that you want gas prices to go higher because you have said before that will wean the American people off fossil fuels onto renewable fuels. How do you respond to that?
President Obama: Ed, just from a political perspective, do you think the President of the United States going into re-election wants gas prices to go up higher? Is that — is there anybody here who thinks that makes a lot of sense? Look, here’s the bottom line with respect to gas prices: I want gas prices lower because they hurt families.
Let us not forget what Barack Obama has said in the past whether it be gas or energy prices. Obama made it perfectly clear that Americans are just going to have to get used to higher prices. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
