Chicago Tribune Editor Opines … Why Barack Obama Should Withdraw from the 2012 Presidential Election

How bad has it got for Barack Obama and Democrats when the Presidents own home town newspaper is discussing the idea that Obama should step down and withdraw from the 2012 Presidential election? Obama said just last week that he thought that his elections chances for victory were better in 2012 than 2008 … the Chicago Tribune thinks otherwise. Steve Chapman ponders, with an unemployment rate over 9%, no jobs being created, on the verge of a double dip recession and the fact that second terms usually lead to more problems for presidents, why doesn’t Obama just leave now instead of getting the axe in 2012?

When Ronald Reagan ran for re-election in 1984, his slogan was “Morning in America.” For Barack Obama, it’s more like midnight in a coal mine.

The sputtering economy is about to stall out, unemployment is high, his jobs program may not pass, foreclosures are rampant and the poor guy can’t even sneak a cigarette.

His approval rating is at its lowest level ever. His party just lost two House electionsone in a district it had held for 88 consecutive years. He’s staked his future on the jobs bill, which most Americans don’t think would work.

The vultures are starting to circle. Former White House spokesman Bill Burton said that unless Obama can rally the Democratic base, which is disillusioned with him, “it’s going to be impossible for the president to win.” Democratic consultant James Carville had one word of advice for Obama: “Panic.”

What does this mean when Obama’s home town newspaper contemplates The One bowing out of the 2012 Presidential election? Why would anyone of the LEFT or the MSM think of the unthinkable if Obama was going to win? Of course they mention the problems with a Presidential second term, especially since it looks like the GOP will control the House and the US Senate. There is a reference of scandals that might arise. Did some one say scandals … you mean like the ones that already exist like “Fast & Furious” and Solyndra-gate”?

However, does one really think that some with an ego like Obama would step down for the sake of his party and have some like say, Hillary Clinton run? There is no love loss between the Obama and the Clinton’s. Obama has felt with the Clinton’s like something out of The Godfather, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Now suddenly Obama would give up running for a second term and have Hillary ride in on the white horse, complete with white hat … NEVER.  After all, Obama thinks he is going to win. Of course he is ignoring the fact that he is polling lower with pretty much every voting demographic including Whites, Blacks and Hispanicsadd Jews to the list as well.

Just as Obama refuses to admit that Obamacare is a night more, his $787 billion stimulus plan was a disaster and his presidency has been an epic failure … Obama stepping down will be an admission that the last 4 years have been something that no one would want to repeat. It is beyond comprehension that Obama would not run in 2012, after all how will he give up weekend golfing and trips to Martha’s Vineyard without a fight.
