Fantastic news today … the man behind the 9-11 terrorist attack on the United States is reported to be pushing up daisies. What wonderful news. It is being reported he was killed a week ago by a US bomb. They had been waiting to confirm DNA results. The terrorist SOB is dead!!!

It is being reported at ABC News via the Drudge Report that the US has his body. We are awaiting a press conference  from President Obama with comments on the news that Bin Laden is dead.

Osama bin Laden, hunted as the mastermind behind the worst-ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil, has been killed, sources told ABC News.

His death brings to an end a tumultuous life that saw bin Laden go from being the carefree son of a Saudi billionaire, to terrorist leader and the most wanted man in the world.

A special song goes out to Osama Bin Laden, who wont be down for breakfast.

UPDATE I: The AP is reporting that Osama is dead and the US has his body.

UPDATE II: CNN is reporting that he was killed in a mansion in Pakistan. So much for living in the caves of Tora Bora.

UPDATE III: The AP is further reporting that Bin Laden was killed in a ground operation in Pakistan, not by a Predator drone.

Two senior counterterrorism officials confirmed that bin Laden was killed in Pakistan last week. One said bin Laden was killed in a ground operation, not by a Predator drone. Both said the operation was based on U.S. intelligence, and both said the U.S. is in possession of bin Laden’s body.

The FBI can now replace Osama Bin Laden as their #1 fugitive. As for this terrorist … ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST.

UPDATE IV: Al Jazeera’s reports US president confirms al-Qaeda leader’s death, saying he has been killed in firefight following US raid in Abbottabad.

US president Barack Obama said bin Laden, the most-wanted fugitive on the US list, has been killed on Sunday in a US operation in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad, about 150km north of Islamabad.

“Tonight, I can report to the people of the United States and the world, the United States had carried an operation that has killed Osama Bin Laden, a terrorist responsible for killing thousands of innocent people,” Obama said in a statement.

UPDATE VII: Tonight I thank our US military for finally getting this dog. It is not very often that I am joyous over death, but tonight I am. I can’t but help but think back to the morning of September 11, 2001 and remember the images of death, destruction and carnage. I remember the people from my town that were killed on 9-11 and the many alumni from high school and college that passed away on that fateful day. I think back to when we came together as a nation to defeat a common foe. A prayer goes out to the families of the victims of 9-11 and those that died.

Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.

Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.

UPDATE IX: Crowds gather in front of the White House in Washington, DC and in Times Square, NY to celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Hundreds of jubilant people streamed to the spot where the World Trade Center fell almost 10 years ago, waving American flags, snapping pictures and breaking into song early Monday to celebrate the death of Osama bin Laden with the boisterous enthusiasm of a Times Square New Year’s Eve crowd.

Many waved American flags or took pictures. One man climbed a light pole and waved the American flag to cheers below while others broke into song with renditions of “God Bless America” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
