Mason-Dixon Poll: Mitt Romney & Mike Huckabee Lead Obama in Florida

Oh those pesky battle ground states …

A recent  Mason-Dixon Poll has both Republicans Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee ahead of President Barack Obama in a hypothetical match-up in the battle ground state of Florida. In head to head match ups between potential GOP candidates Romney and Huckabee, and President Obama, former Massachusetts Governor Romney leads Obama 48% to 43%. Former Arkansas Governor Huckabee leads Obama 49% to 44%.

Former Governors Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee would win Florida’s 29 electoral votes over President Barack Obama if the 2012 Presidential election were held today, according to the results of a new statewide Ron Sachs Communications/Mason-Dixon Poll released Monday.

The poll also pointed out the following data that 43% approve of President Obama’s performance as President while 51 percent disapprove. Which is in line with the recent trending of Obama’s approval numbers as see at Real Clear Politics. All polling since 4/8 have Barack Obama’s job approval in the red.

In 2008 Barack Obama beat John McCain in the battle ground state of Florida; however, the story was much different in the 2010 midterm election as Republican and Tea party candidate Marco Rubio overwhelmingly won the US Senate election in Florida. Also Republican Rick Scott won as governor and the GOP picked up 4 US House seats as well. Obama and the Democrats struggled mightily in swing states and with independents in 2010 … is this a sign of things to come for 2012? Without Florida, Obama has no chance for reelection.
