Beth Holloway On the Eve of Returning to Aruba in search of Natalee Holloway

Beth Holloway Twitty certainly did not mince words last night with Greta Van Susteren, ‘On The Record’ October 31, 2005 regarding her feelings of how recent search events have been handled by Aruban Authorities. Never being one to hold back, Beth Twitty on the eve of her return to Aruba with her brother Paul Reynolds had some real issues to bring forward.

When asked why the searchers had left Aruba, Beth response was as follows:

You know, Greta, when you get a lack of cooperation from the Aruban authorities, when they are not following through with assistance, like they had said they would, there’s no need for them just to live in hotels on the island. You know, they had a mission. We had worked really hard to get all these men together and arranged this, all the equipment. But you know, when they will not follow through and request the FBI’s assistance, there is nothing left for the searchers to do.

With regards to the water searchers and the special additional equipment that was required and being requested Beth Twitty made the following comment.

They needed some additional equipment to conduct the water searches. They needed some larger boats. There were several things they needed. The FBI had it. What Dave and Tim Miller had tried to do was get the Aruban authorities to request the FBI’s assistance in this because they have the necessary equipment. Yet they had not done that as of Saturday. Now today is Monday, the 31st, and it still had not come through, so there’s no need for them to remain on the island, just living in hotels, waiting on the Aruban authorities to get moving and request the FBI’s assistance.

These requests were actually made known to Scared Monkeys by separate independent sources and the sudden what appeared to be a lack of cooperation. The initial requests for this equipment were made last week and finally with no response over five days the searchers returned back to the United States.

Beth Twitty also during the interview with Greta went on to say that several of her calls to Dompig’s office have gone unreturned. A rather remarkable event seeing that one would think that Deputy Chief Dompig would want to either set up a time for a meeting with Beth Twitty or at least inform her on what has been going on in the investigation. We had all been told in the past during interviews with Dave Holloway that there was supposed to be a renewed communication among all parties.

TWITTY: Greta, I called Deputy Dompig today several times today and left my name and number, and I cannot even get him to return my phone calls. So hopefully, when I land on the island tomorrow, I will at least find him or run into him, I hope, Greta.

VAN SUSTEREN: When you make the phone call, do they, do you get the distinct impression that you’re getting the dodge or that he’s not there? I mean, you usually can tell when someone’s sort of giving you the dodge.

TWITTY: Well, I , several days to his to where his police station is, and I never could get through. I never could get his voice-mail. So I did have his cell phone, and I dialed that several times today and left my name and number and have yet to hear back from him.

VAN SUSTEREN: Where do they say he is when you call?

TWITTY: They did not give me a response, Greta, to that.

VAN SUSTEREN: I take it they know who you are. I mean, you say Beth Holloway Twitty — I mean, do you get a sense that whoever answers at the police station, they know who you are?

TWITTY: Oh, absolutely. I tell them I’m Beth Holloway Twitty, Natalee’s mom. They know who I am.

Then comes the statement against Dompig where for some reasons he has made some for of accusation or at least questioning how Beth Twitty is somehow scamming money. I think Deputy Dompig may want to pay a little more attention to the case at hand than reading wild rumors on the internet.

Beth, Chief Deputy Dompig is making some accusations about you, says you’re scamming money. What do you say about that?

TWITTY: Well, you know, Greta, it’s hard for me to even respond to that, but if I must, I would hope that Deputy Dompig realizes that we’re not flying family, friends and searchers in and out on brooms to Aruba. You know, we pay air fares. We pay hotel bills. We pay the exorbitant attorney fees, private investigators. You know, one sample of a bill was $37,000 to Medjet because we had the jet sitting on the tarmac for two days because that’s when we thought we were pulling Natalee out alive of one of their crackhouses, being held by a crack addict against her will. So you know, there have been some expenses that we have incurred during this investigation.

VAN SUSTEREN: Why is Dompig suddenly on this thing about money with you?

TWITTY: You know, I just don’t know, Greta. I hate that he’s losing his focus of the investigation on the perpetrators that participated in a gang rape against my daughter.

One can only hope that when Beth Twitty and Paul Reynolds are in Aruba they can meet with Gerold Dompig. During this meeting that some type of understanding can be found. There seems to be a true lack of communication going on and frankly from an interview that Dave Holloway did over the weekend discussing the underwater search equipment; the misunderstanding and lack of communication does not appear to be just with Beth Twitty.
