Over-Reaction of Lib Educators … Connecticut Middle School Bans All Physical Contact, Hugging … Touching

Posted in: Child Welfare,Education,Main,WTF

A Milford Connecticut Middle School is banning all physical contact, so says the HugS_nomisguided East Shore Middle School principal. It’s going to be pretty hard to play tag on the playground with such a rule in place.

What is wrong with liberal educators in our society? There is no such thing as black and white, there are just several shades of gray and a responsible society is supposed to deal with the many contingencies. Did the administration at the CT middle school never learn “good touch, bad touch”? No wonder the educational system in the United States is broken. When you have people in charge who cannot differentiate between a kick in the groin and a pat on the back … WE GOT TROUBLES!

Schools are supposed to help children learn proper interaction not duct tape their hands to their sides from 8 to 3. This is just another typical over-reaction and taking the lazy way out. You are a learning institution, teach the kids what is and is not appropriate, not condemn all contact. What a message to send to children.

A Connecticut middle school principal has laid down the law: You put your hands on someone — anyone — in any way, you’re going to pay.

A violent incident that put one student in the hospital has officials at the Milford school implementing a “no touching” policy, according to a letter written by the school’s principal.

East Shore Middle School parents said the change came after a student was sent to the hospital after being struck in the groin.

Principal Catherine Williams sent out a letter earlier in the week telling parents recent behavior has seriously impacted the safety and learning at the school.

Check out the potential disciplinary consequences for say doing the following, congratulating a classmate for outstanding achievement by high or low fiving them, patting them on the back or the obligatory sports man hug. What about meeting a student for the first time and shaking their hand?

Potential consequences and disciplinary action may include parent conferences, detention, suspension and/or a request for expulsion from school,” Williams wrote.

Many think the school’s no tolerance policy goes way too far. Others said it’s utterly ridiculous.

Is there supposed to be no physical contact while playing sports or in gym class? Isn’t that going to be next to impossible? What if a child is choking in the cafeteria from eating mystery meat, is no one supposed to touch the for fear of getting expelled? So much for hugging one as a form of condolence as well. UNREAL!
