Did Obama Lie about Hearing or Attending Racially Charged Sermons from Reverend Wright?

Posted in: Bizarre,Politics,Presidential Election 2008,Religion,World

OBAMAGATE –  Did Barack Obama lie when he said he never attended a sermons of pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. preach hatred of America? Is this really CHANGE? Will the excuses and back tracking just be the same old political dance?

The Reverend Wright, formerly of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, and his close ties with Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama have certainly been in the news recently. The fire storm created by Wright’s anti-White and anti-American comments certainly need to be explained by Obama. Although Obama has distanced himself from Wright and the comments … Obama has much, much more explaining.

Obama has stated that he strongly disagrees with Wright’s inflammatory comments and that he never attended any church services with such hate filled sermons. Who is the real Barack Obama? Is is really believable that in nearly 20 years of attending services that Barack Obama never sat through any of the services by Reverend Wright that were hate-filled? Does’t the comments from Michelle Obama against the United States now make a bit more sense knowing that she had witnessed the sermons of Reverend Wright?

Appearing on cable news shows this past weekend, Obama claimed when he saw recent videos that have Wright making such comments as “God damn America,” he was “shocked.” Obama implied that the reverend had not used such derogatory language in any of the church services Obama attended over the past two decades.

Take a good listen and decide for yourself whether you believe such passionate comments by Reverend Wright were on a one or two time event. Or was this a constant message?

Now comes the story from News Max.com where it is being reported that Barack Obama did sit in the pews during one of pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. sermons preaching hatred of America. Is Barack Obama lying? It is unbelievable to even comprehend that Obama could have missed the only sermons where Wright made such comments and that this was not a normal message from this pastor.

This doesn’t mean that Obama agrees with Wright’s thoroughgoing and conspiracy-heavy anti-Americanism. Rather, Obama seems to have seen, early in his career, the utility of joining a prominent church that would help him establish political roots in the community in which he lives. Now he sees the utility of distancing himself from that church. Obama’s behavior in dealing with Wright is consistent with that of a politician who often voted “present” in the Illinois State Legislature for the sake of his future political viability.

The more you learn about him, the more Obama seems to be a conventionally opportunistic politician, impressively smart and disciplined, who has put together a good political career and a terrific presidential campaign. But there’s not much audacity of hope there. There’s the calculation of ambition, and the construction of artifice, mixed in with a dash of deceit — all covered over with the great conceit that this campaign, and this candidate, are different.

Publius Pundit: Obamagate, Part III: Barack Obama, Boldfaced Liar

So let’s be crystal clear: When Obama says he never heard this kind of rhetoric from Wright, he’s simply lying, and when he claims he’s a candidate who stands for “change” he couldn’t be more disingenuous. Who knows how many other such services he attended when reporters didn’t happen to be around. If Obama can lie so brazenly, and so freely spurn the pastor he’s spent his whole adult life adoring, then how can we believe he’ll stick to any promise he may make now about governing the whole country and rejecting Wright’s venomous ideology when president?

Q and O: Obama: I’ve never heard Rev. Wright speak like that – well, ok, except that time …”

20 years of friendship and spitatual advising. This is not just a contoversial pastor who has endorsed Obama, but a confidant. CHANGE? Is Obama really ready or even capable to lead all?
