Gunman opened fire at a Mother’s Day Parade in New Orleans, LA. According to the WAPO, there were 19 victims injured, including two children. At least three of the victims were seriously wounded, no one was killed. The victims of the shooting included 10 men, seven women, a boy and a girl. The children, both 10 years old, were grazed and in good condition. The shooting occurred at approximately 1:47 p.m., during a Second Line Parade in the 7th Ward neighborhood of modest row houses not far from the French Quarter. Authorities are saying that the shooting was random street violence and not terror related. Really, I must have missed it where a bomb was detonated? Who uses a Mother’s Day Parade as a reason to commit violence? Police saw three suspects running from the scene; however, no arrests had been made yet.

Gunmen opened fire on dozens of people marching in a neighborhood Mother’s Day parade in New Orleans on Sunday, wounding at least 19 people.

The shooting shattered the festive mood surrounding the parade that drew hundreds of people to the 7th Ward neighborhood of modest row houses not far from the French Quarter. Cell phone video taken in the aftermath of the shooting shows victims lying on the ground, blood on the pavement and others bending over to help or comfort them.

The FBI said the shooting appeared to be “street violence” and wasn’t linked to terrorism.
