MLB: Texas Rangers 30 Baltimore Orioles 3 … Maybe Major League Baseball Should have the Mercy Rule

That is not a football score folks, that would be baseball …

Wow, the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 30–3 tonight. Ouch, that’s going to leave a mark on the ERA. One has to feel for the Oriole pitcher who went 2/3 of an inning and gave up 8 earned runs. The Texas Rangers became the first team in 110 years to score 30 runs in a Major League Baseball game. The last team to do so did it in 1897. Maybe the MLB should take a page from Little League and implement a 10 run “mercy rule”. Or in this case a 20 or 25 run mercy rule. What makes the 30–3 Ranger victory even more comical is that they once trailed in this game 3–0. Check out the box score, it reads more like a whiffle ball game at a 4th of July family get-together.
