Republican Primary: Salt Lake Tribune Poll Shows Incumbent Bennett Running Third, behind GOP Challengers Mike Lee & Tim Bridgewater.

Looks like Republican incumbent Senator Bob Bennett is in some serious trouble in the run up to the Republican convention that picks the GOP candidate. Bennett is a distant third behind GOP challengers Mike Lee and Tim Bridgewater in a recent Salt Lake Tribune poll.

A new  Salt Lake Tribune  poll of Republican delegates shows Bennett running in third, behind GOP challengers Mike Lee and Tim Bridgewater.

Lee logged 37 percent support in the survey, while Bridgewater came in at 20 percent, and Bennett lagged at 16 percent.

The survey of 400 Republican delegates, with a 4.4 percent margin of error, was conducted April 22-25 by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. of Washington, D.C. It comes less than two weeks before the May 8 state GOP convention.

“Bennett has almost no shot of getting more votes at the convention than Bridgewater and Lee,” Brad Coker, managing director at Mason-Dixon, said Monday.

It is about time that Republicans voters send a message to those individuals that claim to be Republicans. Just because you have an “R” in front of your name, does not a Republican make. A state as conservative as Utah does not need to be represented by a RINO.

Bob Bennett might just become the first sitting Utah senator in seven decades to lose his party’s nomination. Some more fascinating news out of the poll is that most delegates are welcoming the Tea Party.
