Pamela Long, Eighth Suspect Arrested in the Double Murders of Florida Couple Byrd and Melanie Billings

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrested Pamela Long on Wednesday as a person of interest in the murders of Byrd and Melanie Billings. She is the 8th individual arrested in connection with the Billings murders and the first female. Long was located and arrested in Orange Beach, AL by the Orange Beach Police Department. She is being charged with accessory after the fact, which is a felony.

Long was originally a person of interest in the murder of Byrd and Melanie Billings. Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan says Long was found inside a boat at an Orange Beach marina.

Orange Beach Police wouldn’t comment on the investigation, but did say they found a woman inside a boat owned by a member of the Gonzalez family. Sheriff Morgan says he knows for a fact, Long has spent time with Gonzales Jr. and his family.

Pamela Long had a list of aliases she was going by. Because everyone who does not commit crimes needs this many aliases.

47 year old Pamela Wiggins is a real estate agent with ties to two of the men already in custody.

According to public records consistent with information provided by Morgan, Wiggins is a 47-year-old Georgia woman who was charged with felony grand theft in 1988. That charge was dropped to a misdemeanor to which she pleaded guilty.

A second person of interest is being sought because of their involvement with the security system at the Billings home. It would appear that accomplice assigned to turn off surveillance cameras before the deadly, home invasion break-in at the Billings’ residence never did. However, those previously arrested suspects that entered the home never knew the cameras were not turned off.

The accomplice assigned to turn off surveillance cameras before an elaborate, deadly break-in at a sprawling Florida Panhandle home never did, but the seven people accused in the crime apparently did not know that, authorities said Wednesday.

“The execution was basically flawless,” Morgan said. “The one gaping hole that would not have made this a perfect operation, if you will, was the fact that the surveillance system was not disabled. I guess the question was why was it not?”
