I Once Caught a Missile This Big … Rodney Salomon Hooks Air to Air Missile

Posted in: Bizarre,Fun,Humor,Military,WTF

Tall tale fish story, or is it … I once caught a missile thiiiis big.

Everyone who has ever fished has their own fish story, but does your fish story include catching an Fish_storyair to air missile? Talk about your fish stories to tell your kids and grand children. Commercial fisherman Rodney Salomon hooked the missile 50 miles off Panama City in the Gulf of Mexico. Even more amazing than catching the missile, Rodney Salomon kept the missile on his boat for 10 days before returning to port near St. Petersburg. Luckily, it contained no explosives.

A military bomb squad met him at the shore in Florida to remove sensitive technology from the projectile and dispose of it.

Local authorities initially said the missile was live, but Eglin Air Force Base spokesman Samuel King later said it contained no explosives.

Salomon hoped to keep it as a souvenir, but took precautions because he didn’t know if it was live.
