AMBER ALERT Issued for 5 Year Old Missing Neviaeh Amyah Buchanan in Michigan

An AMBER ALERT has been issued for 5 year old Neviaeh Amyah Buchanan.

Neviaeh Amyah Buchanan has been missing since approximately 8:15 pm Sunday, 5/24/09, night from the parking lot where the girl lives at the Charlotte Arms Apartments at 1166 N. Macomb Street in Monroe, MI.

Neviaeh Amyah Buchanan Description:

• 3-foot-8 tall
• weighs 45 pounds
• brown hair
• brown eyes
• She last was seen wearing a red, white and blue striped shirt and knee-length jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department at 734-243-7070.

UPDATE I: George Kennedy, 39, of 15390 South Dixie Hwy., No. 17, was brought in for questioning Sunday night. Kennedy has been previously arrested for 750.520D and 750.145A

According to the Michigan State Police Web site, Kennedy has been a registered sex offender since 2002. He was convicted in Michigan on one count each of attempted criminal sexual conduct and attempted children-accosting for immoral purposes.

Earlier Monday afternoon, police detained two people for questioning in connection with Nevaeh’s disappearance.

UPDATE IV: Two held for questioning in missing girl case

One of the men in custody has been identified as the mother’s boyfriend, who is being held on a parole violation charge, authorities said.

“He is being cooperative,” said Detective Sgt. Heath Velliquette of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The second man was picked up at Heck Park during a search for the girl. The man is not from the area and deputies considered him suspicious after speaking with him. Neither man has been charged in connection with the disappearance so their names are being withheld.

Sgt. Velliquette said he is considering the case a kidnapping because of the circumstances. Nevaeh was playing with friends and reportedly was riding her bicycle in the parking lot early Sunday evening.
