DRIP, DRIP, DRIP …Obama finally takes some action, although minor. And we are supposed to believe that Barack Obama just learned about all this last Friday when “We the People” learned it. Get ready Obama is firing up the Obama bus, minions get ready to be thrown under it. But how high does this really go?
This afternoon at an impromptu press conference regarding the IRS scandal, President Barack Obama announced that current IRS commissioner Steven Miller resigned. As reported at CNN, President Obama said that the “misconduct” detailed in a report about the IRS handling of requests from conservative groups is “inexcusable.” No Mr. President, IT IS ILLEGAL!!! However, despite Miller’s resignation, he is expected to testify Friday at a hearing before the House Ways and Means Committee. That should be must see TV. This resignation represents the first person who has been thrown under the Obama bus for IRS-gate. It is not even nearly enough and Obama’s comments and feigned outrage was the bare minimum he could have done to quell the fires of the multi White House scandals.
The resignation (thrown under the bus) letter can be read HERE.
President Barack Obama vowed Wednesday to hold accountable those at the Internal Revenue Service involved in the targeting of conservative groups applying for federal tax-exempt status, beginning with the resignation of the agency’s acting commissioner who was aware of the practice.
In a brief statement delivered to reporters at the East Room of the White House, the president announced that Treasury Secretary Jack Lew had requested — and accepted — the resignation of acting IRS Commissioner Steven T. Miller.
The president said the “misconduct” detailed in the IRS Inspector General’s report released Tuesday over the singling out of conservative groups is “inexcusable.”
“Americans have a right to be angry about, and I’m angry about it,” Obama said.
“It should not matter what political stripe you’re from. The fact of the matter is, the IRS has to operate with absolute integrity.”
UPDATE I: But wait, according to Daily Mail, he was leaving in June anyhow. So what did Obama really do, hasten the departure by a couple of weeks?Steven Miller is ousted but writes face-saving email announcing departure when his ‘assignment ends in early June.’
