The body of 22-year-old Brown University student, Sunil Tripathi, who had been missing since March 16, 2013 in Providence, RI has been found floating in the Providence River. Tripathi was found in the water off India Point in Providence. The identification was conformed Thursday by authorities. Brown University President Christina Paxson extended her condolences and sympathy to the family: “We extend our deepest condolences to Sunil’s family for their loss and for the immeasurable pain they have endured during this period.” Sadly, Sunil Tripathi was incorrectly implicated and rumored by the media to be a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing. Sunil Tripathi was misidentified on social media as a suspect in the Boston bombing case, making him another victim of the Boston bombing. The Rhode Island medical examiner stated that no foul play is suspected in his death, however, the cause of death has not yet been determined. But it had been reported that the body had been a water for a long time. Our sympathies go out to the family and friend for Sunil Tripathi, may he rest in peace.
Rest in Peace
“We have been able to conclusively determine the body is that of Sunil Tripathi, but will not be able to determine the cause of death for several months,” said Dara Chadwick, a spokeswoman for the Rhode Island Department of Health.
The case received national media attention after social media websites last week lit up with a false rumor that Tripathi, who was on an approved leave from Brown, was one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings.
The actual suspects have been identified as brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
