NEWS FLASH: EARTH TO JURIES … CELEBRITIES MURDER PEOPLE TOO.
After seven days of deliberation, the jury in the Phil Spector murder case is at an impasse. Not again! Another notable celebrity, this time Phil Spector, about to walk on murder charges because a jury cannot get their act together. Phil Spector is accused of shooting 40 year old Lana Clarkson. Judge Larry Paul Fidler may instruct the jury to consider lesser charges.
In response, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler sent the jury home for the day, instructing them to return at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Fidler then told attorneys he was considering giving the jury the option of convicting Spector of involuntary manslaughter — a reduced charge from the second-degree murder count the panel is currently weighing.
Fidler ruled earlier that the panel would only have the option of second- degree murder. The judge also rejected a defense request that he declare a mistrial.
Three jurors said they would like more instructions from the court. Others said they do not believe there is anything that can be done to break the impasse.
