More Charges Handed Down in Megan Williams West Virgina Torture Case … Hate Crimes

HATE IS HATE … IT COMES IN ALL SHAPES, SIZES AND COLORS.

The details of the horrors that occurred in the West Virginia torture case committed against 20 year old Megan Williams just got even worse. The crimes committed by 6 people (Frankie Brewster, Bobby R. Brewster, Karen Burton, Alisha Burton, George Messer and Danny J. Combs) in a remote trailer in West Virginia border on the unthinkable.

Many want hate charges to be filed as well in this case as the victim was black and all of the suspects are white.  However, if these crimes were committed against a person of any color by a person of any color, would not they still be a crime of hate? 

She said she was sexually assaulted, doused with hot water, forced to eat animal feces, and taunted with racial slurs. Among the new allegations, she said hot wax was poured on her, and that two of her captors forced her to drink a cup of their urine.

Charges against most of the six suspects were upgraded Tuesday. All six, who are white, now face charges of kidnapping, which carries a maximum life sentence. Four of the defendants had faced lesser charges before Tuesday’s filings.

Megan Williams’ statement said the defendants told her they didn’t like black people and that they were going to hang her, though no hate crime charges were filed. (Yahoo News)

That is not to say what happened to Megan Williams was not hate, as it obviously was. It begs the question that if anyone did something so heinous to another individual, would it and should it not be considered a hate crime? Hate crimes cannot just be a black on white crime, hate crimes come in all shapes, sizes and colors. It can be argued and simply proved that any person that would do such acts against another is motivated by hate. Hate crimes are not supposed to be politically correct, they are and shoud be consistent.

If the media and “hate crime” proponents want any credibility then they best have some consistency when it comes to hate crimes. Where were the cries of hate crime when this shocking and brutal sexual assault and murder took place? Where was the media and the outrage when Channon Christian and Chris Newsom went missing  in Knoxville, TN and were later found brutally assaulted and murdered?
