Convicted Murderer Lisa Michelle Lambert Paid $35K by State of PA in Lawsuit Rape Settlement

Only in America does a convicted for life murderer get awarded a $35K settlement. 34 year old Lisa Michelle Lambert had accused administrators at the State Correctional Institution at Cambridge Springs of allegedly raping and assaulting her.

In a 1996 lawsuit, Lisa Michelle Lambert, 34, accused administrators at the State Correctional Institution at Cambridge Springs of doing nothing to prevent the assaults. She also alleged that she was videotaped during a strip search.

If the name “Lisa Michelle Lambert” sound familiar it should. It was her stalking case and the murder of 16 year old Laurie Show that gave rise to the anti-stalking laws in Pennsylvania and was portrayed in the TV show in 2000, ”The Stalking of Laurie Show”.

What makes this story more disturbing is that the $35K was nothing more than a nuisance payment to make all of this go away.  Two wrongs never make a right. There was obvious wrong doing by guards; however, murder usually trumps assault. The jurors might be told of Lambert’s conviction. Might? What, that she stalked and murdered and innocent girl? As Lisa Michelle Lambert takes college classes offered by BU in Mass prison, Laurie Show is still dead.

Lambert’s lawyer, Angus Love of the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project, called the settlement amount “low.” He said his client was concerned that jurors might be told about her conviction which “could have poisoned the minds for [her] plea for compassion for the sexual assaults she suffered.”

In addition, he said, Lambert did not want to “fan the flames” of the publicity that has surrounded her case for years. She is now taking college classes offered by Boston University in the Massachusetts prison and “wants to put all this behind her,” Love said. (Philly.com)
