Miami Hurricanes and FIU Should be Ashamed and Suspended for Year if Not Permanently
The fight that ensued during The University of Miami and Florida International game was nothing more than a gang thug brawl. The actions of the players were nothing more than that of punks. It is hard to imagine that this is what college sports finds acceptable. This is what is getting a free ride through college on an athletic scholarship. This is what college football has been reduced to at these two schools? Heads should role.
At the 1:50 moment of this video you hear why such events take place. Listen to the announcer who is a former Miami ‘thug” Hurricane player, Lamar Thomas. This announcer too should be fired. What a disgrace this entire thing was and the announcer is completely fine with what is going on. In fact, he actually states that it should continue after the game. Talking is pathetic punk gang slang he says the following:
“Now that’s what I am talking about. You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don’t come in to the OB playing that stuff.”
“I say why don’t they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game and get it on some more.”
Check out at 3:22 where the Miami Hurricanes are jumping up and down on the sidelines with their helmets in the air. They are actually proud of what has gone on.
The end result of this pathetic display of athletics and sportsmanship was 31 players were suspended. Suspensions??? These players should lose their scholarships. There best be dismissals from school. Some of these people should have been arrested for what took place.
Thirty one players were suspended on Sunday for their role in a sideline-clearing brawl during a game between Miami and Florida International on Saturday.
The Atlantic Coast Conference suspended 13 players, hours after Miami announced that eight players had been sanctioned. Later, the Sun Belt Conference, in conjunction with FIU, said 18 players had been suspended. Further penalties were not ruled out. (ESPN)
Guess what folks … this better not be the final punishment. THAT IS A JOKE. There are people that participated in this brawl that not only should be suspended permanently from ever playing 1A football ever again, but should have criminal assault charges handed to them. Thats how out of hand this got. Players used helmet and crutches as weapons. People were kicked and stomped as they lay on the ground.

One game suspensions??? Give me a break. These pampered thugs should be booted out of their respective universities. Let them take this nonsense back to the streets and gangs where is belongs. The two universities and their Presidents should be embarrassed.
UPDATE: Miami extends 1 suspension, FIU dismisses 2 in wake of melee
News Flash Presidents of Miami & FIU … this isn’t even close to enough punishment. If you even think that a one game suspension for all that participated is enough, you are pathetic. You call yourselves institutions of academic learning? This is what these thugs get away with when all can see on National TV. We can only imagine what happens when the cameras are off. You had people kicking people in the head and stomping on players on the ground. The University of Miami is a joke. You best do better than extending suspensions.
Miami’s Anthony Reddick, who wielded his helmet as a weapon before smashing it into an FIU player, had his one-game suspension increased to an indefinite one, leaving the remainder of his season in serious doubt.
Meanwhile, FIU’s new sanctions were considerably tougher: The Golden Panthers dismissed two players, Marshall McDuffie Jr. and Chris Smith, and issued 16 other players — all who were originally handed one-game suspensions — indefinite breaks from the game. (Yahoo Sports)
UPDATE II: Analyst fired, comments during telecast of brawl to be edited
This was previously stated in the above post … “Listen to the announcer who is a former Miami ‘thug” Hurricane player, Lamar Thomas. This announcer too should be fired”. Guess what, he was. Say good bye Lamar.
MIAMI (AP) — Former Miami player Lamar Thomas lost his TV analyst job Monday over comments he made during a sideline-clearing brawl involving the Hurricanes and Florida International.
Comcast Sports SouthEast, a regional cable network that hired Thomas before the season, also decided to edit out his comments before the game is replayed later this week.
So they edited out the comments. That’s nice, we didn’t.
“Now, that’s what I’m talking about,” Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. “You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don’t come into the OB playing that stuff. You’re across the ocean over there. You’re across the city. You can’t come over to our place talking noise like that. You’ll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing.”
“We’ve had a down couple years but you don’t come in here talking smack. Not in our house.”
UPDATE III: On a lighter note to show the absurdity of what took play in the OB, that would be Orange Bowl for all those not hip to South Florida and Lamat Thomas lingo … Check out Guns n’ Butter, this is funny.
