This morning Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, accompanied by their First ladies and their family, visited the hallowed area of ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial on the 10th anniversary of that fateful morning, September 11, 2001.
During this mornings 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in NYC as the names of the fallen were read, the bells tolled for a moment of silence six times his morning at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, DC and a field in Shanksville, PA, to commemorate the moments when the four planes crashed and the two Twin Towers fell 10 years ago. During this mornings ceremonies Presidents Bush and Obama were side by side; however, it was GWB who got the cheers and applause and rightfully so. Even those who never voted for W know he did a fantastic job in the days, weeks and years following 9/11.
The presidents both recited readings to the crowd. Obama read Psalm 46, which starts, “God is our refuge and strength,” while Bush read a letter by Abraham Lincoln, saying, “the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.”
Both men departed after the readings to go to other ceremonies in Pennsylvania and Washington.
George W. Bush, Laura Bush, Barack Obama & Michelle Obama personally shake hands and hug family members who lost loved ones on 9/11 at the waterfalls of the 9/11 Memorial
God Bless the victims, our fallen heroes and the families of 9/11.
