Welcome to the Obama “Hope & Change” economy. People across America just hope they have change in their pocket in the wake of Obama’s miserable attempt at restoring the economy.

1 in 7 now considered poor … welcome to the Obama Misery Index. Thanks to President Barack Hussein Obama, the nation’s official poverty rate in 2009 was 14.3% as 43.6 million people found themselves  in poverty. The number of uninsured also increased in 2009 thanks to out of work individuals as the number of uninsured rose to 50.7 million in 2009 from 46.3 million in 2008.

Less than 50 days out before the midterm election and voters will express their dissatisfaction with the Obama Misery Index.

The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that real median household income in the United States in 2009 was $49,777, not statistically different from the 2008 median.

The nation’s official poverty rate in 2009 was 14.3 percent, up from 13.2 percent in 2008 — the second statistically significant annual increase in the poverty rate since 2004. There were 43.6 million people in poverty in 2009, up from 39.8 million in 2008 — the third consecutive annual increase.

Meanwhile, the number of people without health insurance coverage rose from 46.3 million in 2008 to 50.7 million in 2009, while the percentage increased from 15.4 percent to 16.7 percent over the same period.

These findings are contained in the report Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2009. The following results for the nation were compiled from information collected in the 2010 Current Population Survey (CPS) Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC):

Barack Obama actually had the nerve to say that he prevented people from being in poverty. Really sir? Your redistribution of wealth, food stamp, welfare job stimulus plan has been an unmitigated disaster. The only thing that could possibly be worse for America is if Democrats retain either the House, Senate or Obama is ever re-elected.

In a statement, President Barack Obama called 2009 a tough year for working families but said it could have been worse.

“Because of the Recovery Act and many other programs providing tax relief and income support to a majority of working families – and especially those most in need – millions of Americans were kept out of poverty last year,” Obama said.

The new figures come at a politically sensitive time, just weeks before the Nov. 2 congressional elections, when voters restive about high unemployment and the slow pace of economic improvement will decide whether to keep Democrats in power in the House and Senate or turn to Republicans.
