The Underwear Bomb of Northwest Flight 253 … The Lengths that Terrorists Will Go to Kill US, Allegedly!

ABC News has pics of the the accused terrorist bomber Abdulmutallab’s underwear, explosive packet and detonator. How and why after so many years following September 11, 2001 was this terrorist allowed to board a Northwest plane with an explosive device?

As seen in these photos, the alleged bomb consisted of a packet of powder sewn into the briefs of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian. Al Qaeda took credit Monday for the attempted bombing, boasted of its ability to overcome U.S. intelligence and airport security, and promised new attacks.

Terrorist will stop at nothing to try and circumvent security measures in order to murder innocents. They are already learning from this failed attempt and on to the next contingency plan. The fact that the US has measures that are not constantly reviewed is rather unsettling. Are we resting on our laurels?

It is a six-inch long packet of the high explosive chemical called PETN, less than a half cup in volume, weighing about 80 grams.

A government test with 50 grams of PETN blew a hole in the side of an airliner. That was the amount in the bomb carried by the so-called shoe bomber Richard Reid over Christmas 2001.

The underpants bomb would have been one and a half times as powerful.

American Power has a VIDEO of a test explosion with just 20 grams of PETN.  Nigerian Muslim terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had 50 grams of PETN in his underwear bomb. Take a good look at the test explosion, it is chilling. Now imagine an explosion one and a half times as powerful.

Did allegedly almost 300 innocent people almost get killed except for the luck of a detonator failing? ALLEGEDLY!

Here’s what we know so far: On Christmas Day, Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was en route from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit. As the plane made its final approach to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, a passenger allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on his body, setting off a fire.

This is reassuring and gives you a warm fuzzy, there are “More Like Me In Yemen.” This is hardly a solo isolated act.
