2010 Pennsylvania Senate Elections: Republican Toomey With Lead Over Both Dems Specter and Sestak

Toomey Leads in PA over both Democrat candidates … Potential pick up for Republican in 2010.

More signs that there may be changes coming to Washington, DC in 2010. A recent Rasmussen poll has Republican challenger Pat Toomey leads both Democrats, incumbent Arlen Specter (Republican turned Democrat) and Democrat primary challenger Joe Sestak. Toomey leads Specter by 4% points and Sestak by 6%.

Likely Republican nominee Pat Toomey is now ahead of both Democrats who are vying to run against him next year in Pennsylvania’s 2010 race for the U.S. Senate.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Pennsylvania voters finds Toomey capturing 46% against incumbent Senator Arlen Specter’s 42%. In October, Toomey had a virtually identical 45% to 40% lead.

Surprisingly, Specter has opened up a wide lead in the Democratic primary poll over challenger Joe Sestak.

One thing is for certain, the eventual election in PA, the Keystone State, is going to revolve around Specter’s Obamacare vote and Cap & Trade. Also, what will the unemployment rate look like in PA in 2010? That will most likely tell the story as to whether this will be a pick up for Republicans in the Senate.
