California No Spanking Bill Will Now not Ban “Spanking”

Posted in: Child Welfare,Crime,Government,Politics

When is a “no spanking” bill not a no spanking bill? When the California law maker takes the exact “no spanking” wording from the bill. Why were the words removed? Simple. There was not even close to enough support to pass such a bill. So now the “no spanking” bill goes forward void of spanking. Guess they may want to refer to it as the no beating of a child with a stick, rod, belt or closed fist. Don’t we already have laws on the books that state this?

The controversial “no spanking” bill has been severely altered.

The assembly’s second-ranking Democrat, Sally Lieber, entered the Capitol Thursday to deliver her anticipated no-spanking bill.

The bill originally would have banned parents from spanking kids under the age of 3 years old, but the Democrats were ridiculed in editorials and comedy shows, Luery reported.

Now, the bill does not use the word spanking. (NBC 11)
