What he didn’t say …
A 55 minute Obama press conference and no mention of Iraq, Afghanistan, troops, soldiers or War. Why would this be? Is it as Blue Crab Boulevard points to that these topics are of no great concern to Obama or the press at the present? We are supposed to forget what is presently going on and on focus on the new whirl wind of spending Obama policies and act as if nothing else has occurred. Not referencing the troops and their bravery at every opportunity is hardly a change that one should embrace, especially a “Commander” and Chief.
A couple of surprising words were missing from President Barack Obama’s 55-minute news conference on Wednesday: “Iraq” — and “Afghanistan.”
Also MIA: “Korea,” “Pakistan,” “soldiers,” “surge” and “war” — as well as the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
The omissions were partly a result of the short attention span of the press, which did not ask about those topics after the president did not mention them in his opening statement.
A President is supposed to be able to juggle many topics and issues at the same time. Not just the issues that One wishes to spin to the people like healthcare and spending programs. However, no need to talk about the troops and the tremendous job they are doing in the war on terror, Mr. President, unless One needs a photo-op.
Line of the day from Blue Crab Boulevard …
John Kerry was branded with the nickname “Waffles”. I rather suspect Obama and his team – and the media, now – have earned another title. Not waffles but crêpes. Light, thin and airy. Nothing much to them at all.
