ADD THIS ONE TO THE DARWIN AWARDS, YES ALCOHOL/DRUGS WERE INVOLVED …
33 year old Jacqueline Eide is recovering from her wounds after she broke into the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska and tried to pet the tiger. Yes, this is just another example of how alcohol/drugs, breaking and entering and trying to pet a wild animal don’t mix. The intoxicated woman made her way to the tigers cage where she suffered a “severe trauma” to her left hand. The wounds are so bad that she might lose parts of her fingers. Well that will teach her. She is lucky she did not lose her entire arm. She was eventually driven to hospital by a friend, where police cited her for criminal trespass.
An intoxicated woman was bitten by a tiger after she broke into a zoo and tried to pet the animal, police said.
Jacqueline Eide, 33, reached into the predator’s cage after she allegedly entered Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, early Sunday — just hours after Halloween.
There was no merciful repeat of Daniel in the lions’ den, however, and Eide suffered a “severe trauma” to her left hand, the Omaha Police Department said in a statement.
She was driven to hospital by a friend, where police said Eide was aggressive and showed signs of intoxication by alcohol or drugs. She was cited for criminal trespass and remained at the hospital for treatment Sunday.
But this was not the first time this woman has been in trouble with the law, surprise, surprise. According to KETV, Eide was sentenced to prison time for her third DUI in 2011. She was arrested twice in Omaha this year and has criminal convictions, including drunk driving, graffiti, disturbing the peace, obstruction of justice and shoplifting. Hmm, I guess with losing a couple of fingers on her hand and maybe her hand altogether, Eide won’t be doing any more shoplifting or graffiti. Maybe the 18-year-old Malayan tiger called Mai did the folks of Omaha a public service.
