Nancy Pelosi Knew … CIA Says Pelosi Was Briefed on Use of ‘Enhanced Interrogations’ … Water Boarding

Nancy Pelosi: LIAR, LIAR … “I did not have knowledge of waterboarding, not a single time”. Democratic Speaker of the House stood there and wagged her finger at all of us stating that she had no knowledge of water boarding and was not briefed on “enhanced interrogations.” Like another more famous finger wagger before her, maybe she might have wanted to learn something from that mistake. Speaker Pelosi … do you care to clarify your statement?

According to a report prepared by the Director of National Intelligence’s office, Speaker Nancy Pelosi was briefed on the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” on terrorist suspect Abu Zubaydah in September 2002.

The report, submitted to the Senate Intelligence Committee and other Capitol Hill officials Wednesday, appears to contradict Pelosi’s statement last month that she was never told about the use of waterboarding or other special interrogation tactics. Instead, she has said, she was told only that the Bush administration had legal opinions that would have supported the use of such techniques. The report details a Sept. 4, 2002 meeting between intelligence officials and Pelosi, then-House intelligence committee chairman Porter Goss, and two aides. At the time, Pelosi was the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee.

The meeting is described as a “Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities, and a description of particular EITs that had been employed.”

“Pelosi: Bush Administration Never Briefed Congress On Waterboarding?” The story was based on Pelosi’s insistence that “We were not — I repeat, we were not — told that water boarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.”

The documents released by the CIA all but prove that Nancy Pelosi had been briefed since 2002 on waterboarding and other EIT’s and contradict her 18 month denial of repeated statements that she had no knowledge. As the Gateway Pundit puts it, Pelosi was caught in a Bald Faced lie.

Could it be put into a better phrase for Pelosi’s actions than that of Jules Crittenden, “Liar, liar, pants on fire.”

UPDATE I: More Evidence that Pelosi Lied and Knew About Waterboarding

As reported in the Washington Post, a top aide to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi attended a CIA briefing in early 2003 that made it perfectly clear that “waterboarding and other harsh techniques” were being used in the interrogation of an alleged al-Qaeda operative.

Pelosi has insisted that she was not directly briefed by Bush administration officials that the practice was being actively employed. But Michael Sheehy, a top Pelosi aide, was present for a classified briefing that included  Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), then the ranking minority member of the House intelligence committee, at which agency officials discussed the use of waterboarding on terrorism suspect Abu Zubaida.

A Democratic source acknowledged yesterday that it is almost certain that Pelosi would have learned about the use of waterboarding from Sheehy. Pelosi herself acknowledged in a December 2007 statement that she was aware that Harman had learned of the waterboarding and had objected in a letter to the CIA’s top counsel.

As stated at Hot Air, Pelosi’s attempt to glom onto Rep. Jane Harman’s objection since both  Pelosi and Sheehy attended a briefing on September 4, 2002, five months before Harman attended her first briefing.

She is being called out by her own party, in fact one of her own aides, the GOP with Pete Hoekstra wanting a full investigation as to who knew what and when and recently released documents show that Pelosi was, indeed, briefed and told in 2002.

Yes, let’s have a full investigation and release all the docs. The fact that the LEFT is hanging on to the pathetic notion of semantics that she was not “directly” or “personally” briefed is just that, pathetic. Please, just take your medicine before this story gets more out of control than it already is.
