Some Brilliant Foreign Policy from Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi … boycott the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics

Nancy Pelosi has just figured out that there are no human rights in China.

In typical non-committal fashion Democratic House Speaker wants the United States to boycott the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but not the actual Olympic Games. That will show them Nancy. There is some sound foreign policy to stand up to the lack of any rights of the Chinese people. Did you suddenly have an epiphany that the Chinese government provide no human rights and crack down with great force against protesters?

“I think boycotting the opening ceremony, which really gives respect to the Chinese government, is something that should be kept on the table,” Pelosi, D-Calif., told “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts in an interview airing Tuesday. “I think the president might want to rethink this later, depending on what other heads of state do.”

This is the best that the Democratic party can think of to deal with human rights violations in China, a boycott of the Opening Ceremonies? Hey, why not do as ex-President Democrat Jimmy Carter did and boycott the Olympics altogether. That worked so well. Talk about putting a band-aid on a broken leg. Gee Nancy, where have you been the other 364 days of the year when China has been doing the same thing to their people? Could you provide less of a solution to such a serious problem.

It is unreal how our elected leaders like Nancy Pelosi come up with some of the most pathetic and ridiculous solutions to such real issues.
