Three armed and masked men held up the Famia Supermarket, shot the owners in the leg and took off with their spoils. According to reports, 2 of the 3 suspects have been arrested. There is no truth to the rumor that the Aruban police first arrested 2 black security guards before actually arresting those responsible for the crime … One Happy and Safe Island.
ORANJESTAD – A Chinese supermarket in Mabon was attacked with a weapon last night. The two owners were shot in the leg during the hold-up.
The incident took place around 22:00. Three armed persons with masks entered the building of Famia Supermarket and demanded the contents of the cash register. When, according to them this didn’t happen fast enough, they shot on the owners. One of the owners also received a blow in the face. The attackers then left the building without the booty and disappeared in the bushes.
The police patrol from San Nicolas, Sta. Cruz, and Oranjestad and the police helicopter searched the area for the attackers. The police arrested two suspects; the third one is still being looked for.
The owner of the supermarket and his wife were taken to the medical center in San Nicolas for treatment.
