21 year old Zachary Wells and 23 year old Prescott Wright have been missing since 12/20/12 when they were last seen at a party with friends in Kennebunkport, ME. They had virtually vanished without a trace. However, there appears to have been a break in the case. Police are saying that clothing items believed to belong to two the two missing yacht school friends were found on the rocks of a small island off the coast of Kennebunkport, Maine.
Clothing items believed to belong to two missing yacht school friends were found on the rocks of a small island off the coast of Maine, Kennebunkport police said today.
Zachary Wells, 21, and Prescott Wright, 23, were last seen hanging out at a home in the seaside community on Thursday, police chief Craig Sanford said.
The disappearance of the two friends baffled authorities, who have searched by air, water and in wooded areas for the men.
Today marked the first breakthrough in the case, when authorities discovered the clothing, including one item that was marked to indicate that it belonged to one of the men, Sanford said.
UPDATE I: According to the Bangor Daily News, one of the articles of clothing found on rocks on a small island off Cape Porpoise is “marked in such a way as to indicate ownership to one of the missing men.”

One of the articles of clothing is “marked in such a way as to indicate ownership to one of the missing men,” Police Chief Craig A. Sanford said in a statement released Monday.
The statement did not say whether the clothes belonged to Prescott Wright, 23, of Barnstable, Mass., or Zachary Wells, 21, of Burlington, Vt. The men were last seen at Wells’ residence, an antique Cape house situated near marshes and a sheltered bay at 5 Mills Road in Kennebunkport.
The Maine Marine Patrol, which found the clothes, Maine Warden Service, and the Kennebunkport Police Department are continuing their search for the two men. Searchers had never overlooked the possibility that the two men went into the water before their disappearance, Sanford said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Kennebunkport Police Department at 207-967-2454.
