Aruba: Aruba Airport Authority and American Airlines Join Lawsuit against Valero Employee Strike

What are Valero employees doing that is any different than American tourists who have an issue with an Aruban entity? The answer nothing. Using their rights to strike to exact an outcome. From the looks of the most recent Valero employee strike the vacation money making crowd in Aruba are banding together against them. Delayed fights in Aruba, just one more lasting impression for tourists from, “One Happy Island”.

What is the difference between Valero employees or US tourists striking, protesting, boycotting or using personal choice against something they deem improper?

The judge ruled in favour of 15 employees yesterday morning, after Valero had tried to stop the strike twice in one week via a lawsuit.    Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) and airline company American Airlines (AA) have joined Valero in the second lawsuit, because they could notice the consequences of the strike.   Last Saturday, 15 flights were delayed due to the strike.  AAA also expects delays this weekend. ORANJESTAD – The personnel of Valero Aviation that are responsible for filling up airplanes, are on strike since noon today till Monday afternoon.  That’s when the judge has ordered them to go back to work.  

The judge ruled in favour of 15 employees yesterday morning, after Valero had tried to stop the strike twice in one week via a lawsuit.    Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) and airline company American Airlines (AA) have joined Valero in the second lawsuit, because they could notice the consequences of the strike.   Last Saturday, 15 flights were delayed due to the strike.  AAA also expects delays this weekend.  According to spokesperson Sharine de Goede, Valero has promised that despite the strike, all the airplanes will be refueled.  Valero confirms this, but does not rule out delays.  “We will try to minimize the discomfort as much as possible, by putting in more staff-members and other personnel.  Valero has trained a team of 10 persons to refuel the airplanes during the strike.
