One wonders just how bad this scandal truly is when one is forced to resign as David Colby eventually was by WellPoint. However, how long did WellPoint know what was going on prior to any action being taken. The law suit reads like a Peyton Place instead of an insurance carrier.
Indianapolis-based WellPoint, the nation’s largest insurer, forced Colby to resign May 30 as chief financial officer for an unspecified violation of the company’s conduct code. Troughton would only describe the violation as “nonbusiness” and nothing illegal.
Since Colby resigned, The Wall Street Journal and several other newspapers have detailed Colby’s romantic entanglements. Larry Garrison, president of California’s SilverCreek Entertainment, said he is negotiating a book-movie deal with several women who claim they were involved with Colby.
Garrison said Thursday he’s talked to more than 20 women who claim relationships with the executive.
“Every day I’m getting calls, it’s unbelievable,” he said. (Journal & Courier)
Sarah Waugh has brought this particular law suit; however, after reading about the sordid affairs and spending of corporate dollars to finance Davis Colby’s alleged infidelities, its only a matter of time before stock holders take notice. How long will it be before a lawyer represents the WellPoint stock holders for misapropriation of funds?
The lawsuit states that WellPoint employees arranged personal and business travel for “various women” with Colby and “in many cases, high-level WellPoint employees traveled with Colby and the women.”
It also claims Colby has had “concurrent relationships” since mid-2004 with more than 15 women, including Waugh’s sister, Jessica. She traveled with him and other company employees to conferences and investor meetings in London, Paris and Amsterdam, according the lawsuit.
