Taken to the Cleaners by a Lawyer … Sues for $67 Million for Lost Pants
Posted in: Bizarre,Judicial,WTF
The lawsuit of the missing $67 million pants presses forward. Once again a hard working citizen being taken to the cleaners by a lawyer, literally.
Why is this country tired of lawyers, judges and skeptical of their legal system? Maybe because of people like Roy Pearson, a local judge in Washington DC, who is suing a dry cleaner for a lost pair of pants for $67 million.
Plaintiff Roy Pearson — himself a local judge in Washington D.C — says in court papers that he’s been through the ringer over a lost pair of prized pants he wanted to wear on his first day on the bench. He says in court papers that he has endured “mental suffering, inconvenience and discomfort.”
He says he was unable to wear that favorite suit of his first day of work.
He’s suing for ten years of weekend car rentals so he can transport his dry cleaning to another store. (ABC News)
How does a frivolous law suit like this allowed to go forward while other more pressing cases do not or have to take a back seat to this nonsense? What makes this matter even worse is that the legal system is being gamed by one of its own. We have become a sue happy nation where people fear to do anything for anyone any more.
“People in America are now scared of each other,” legal expert Philip Howard told ABC News’ Law & Justice Unit. “That’s why teachers won’t put an arm around a crying child, and doctors order unnecessary tests, and ministers won’t meet with parishioners. It’s a distrust of justice and it’s changing our culture.
Remember this is a judge who is trying to sue out of existence a small business owner who’s only crime was losing a pair of pants. Can we only imagine what type of person this judge is when he is ruling on cases? What a joke, although no one is laughing. Lawyers, judges and the greed for civil lawsuit money have gotten out of hand.
