People’s Republic of Vermont St Michael’s College Want Cops off Campus

What has gone wrong with this state? In a state will less than 1 million in population, it appears that it has been high-jacked by the ultra liberal left. St Michael’s College students state that they want police officials off campus. Why? Because they are upset with police crack downs of under age drinking. Of course these would be the same people who would complain that the police are doing nothing to protect them is a student was raped, went missing or was murdered.

It is a typical concept of those whining that they get “no respect”, usually are they same that are incapable of giving the same. What has happened to Vermont from students to government. It is as if it has become a lost cause.

“We’re requesting there be no police presence on this campus,” student Kelsey Stavseth said during the demonstration.

Students said they resented police coming on campus to check IDs and conduct breath tests as they screened for alcohol. The scrutiny includes police and college security entering dorm rooms, said student Andrew Gill, 22, who called the actions unwarranted and an invasion of privacy.

Here is a news flash to the students that think they know it all and have no respect for the police, laws or authority … the drinking age in Vermont is 21. There comes a point and time where these “anarchists” need to grow up and respect some semblance of authority. The tuition at St Michael’s is $37,000 a year. One would think that these students could make better time of their college years than worrying whether they have the right to drink and do drugs when its against the law. I am sure mommy & daddy don’t need their hard earned dollars wasted on such an education.

Last semester, 60 St. Michael’s students were taken to Act 1, a Burlington alcohol treatment center, after being incapacitated from drinking, he said. That compares to 68 students from the much larger University of Vermont who were taken to Act 1 last semester.

Samara said there had been an increase in fights and drug abuse on campus. And some students and parents wanted more police on campus for security after the October killing of University of Vermont student Michelle Gardner-Quinn.
