Saddam Hussein Crimes Against Humanity Verdict Expected Sunday … and this just in … Saddam Closer To Nuclear Bomb Than Anyone Thought
Posted in: Homeland Security,Media,Politics,War on Terror
Three years after Saddam Hussein was found hiding in a spider hole giving himself up to US troops, Sunday could be the day that he is convicted of “crimes against humanity” and condemned to death in an Iraqi Court.
Saddam, 69, and seven co-accused have been charged with crimes against humanity for the killing of 148 Shi’ite villagers after an attempt on his life in the town of Dujail in 1982.
If convicted, Saddam faces death by hanging, a prospect Shi’ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, with some disregard for judicial independence, has said cannot come soon enough. (Reuters)
With the verdict announcement of this trial two days before the midterm elections, how will this affect them if any?
As President Bush faces mounting criticism over the war, a guilty verdict announced two days ahead of tight U.S. congressional elections on November 7 could reflect positively on him as a vindication of his policy to overthrow Saddam.

Let us remember one very important fact regarding Saddam Hussein and Iraq. No one should be allowed to treat their people this way. No one, Republicans, Democrats or Independents should ever condone such action. The US has stepped into other situations to help as in the case of Yugoslavia’s Slobodan Milosevic.
“Saddam is being tried by his own people and in his land,” the official said. “That is what this trial is about.”
UPDATE: There was always talk of WMD’s that US and foreign intelligence said was real. Now a report comes from the NY Times, hardly a right wing, GWB mouth piece. Saddam Hussein’s regime was perhaps only a year away from developing nuclear weapons at the time of the US invasion.
Among the dozens of documents in English were Iraqi reports written in the 1990’s and in 2002 for United Nations inspectors in charge of making sure Iraq abandoned its unconventional arms programs after the Persian Gulf war. Experts say that at the time, Mr. Hussein’s scientists were on the verge of building an atom bomb, as little as a year away.
The NY Times just said that Saddam Hussein and Iraq were within a year of having nuclear weapons. I can’t wait ton hear no one talk about this in the MSM days away from an election where Democrats have stated this election is a referendum on Iraq.
Does anyone see the irony that the NY Times would be upset about divulging classified information on the internet? What are they upset about, that it was not divulged in the NY Times as usual?
So Saddam Hussein had programs of WMD before he didn’t? Can someone explain how the NY Times can call the GWB Administration incompetent for having this info on the internet and in the same breathe state that Saddam Hussein did not pose a real threat?
