Fred Goldman Sues for the publicity rights to the name, image and likeness of OJ Simpson

Fred Goldman, the father of murder victim Ron Goldman petitioned the courts today for the rights to the name, image and likeness of OJ Simpson. Ever since the Goldman family won a wrongful death lawsuit in 1997 against OJ Simpson in the death of Ron Goldman for $33.5 million; OJ Simpson has not paid a dime.
“He personally has never paid a dime on the judgment to anyone,” Fred Goldman said. “He has made it very clear over the years that he has no intention of doing so.”
The petition, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, asks that Simpson’s “right of publicity” be transferred to help pay off the Goldman family’s portion of the award, estimated at about $20 million, plus interest.
A hearing on the petition was scheduled for Oct. 17.
For those that don’t think OJ Simpson is not crafty like a fox. Not only do many, including the Goldman family, believe that OJ Simpson got away with the murder of their son and Nicole Brown Simpson in a criminal court. OJ Simpson also has managed to not pay the Goldman’s as his money and assets are sheltered. Why does everyone think OJ lives in Florida?
Simpson has avoided paying the civil judgment because his National Football League pension and his Florida home cannot legally be seized. However, Goldman’s petition contends Simpson has continued to earn money through appearances and autograph signings.
Fred Goldman feels that he should be able to take away what OJ cherishes most, rather poetic seeing that Fred Goldman had his son taken away from him.
Goldman said he wants to take from Simpson “what we perceive is probably the most important thing to him, and that’s his ego, and that’s the opportunity to use his name and likeness to earn money.”

OJ Simpson, another one of those names that just does not seem to go away.
