Governor Perdue Calls for Boycott of Aruba in the Natalee Holloway Disappearance

Add the state of Georgia to Alabama and Arkansas in the boycott of Aruba with regards to how the Natalee Holloway investigation has been handled.

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today encouraging Georgians to boycott travel to Aruba:

“I want to join my friend, Governor Bob Riley, in his call for a travel boycott of Aruba. This boycott is necessary because Aruban authorities have failed to conduct a serious investigation of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. We have no quarrel with good citizens of Aruba, but the actions of their leaders cannot be taken lightly. I encourage my fellow Georgians to stand with the Holloway family and the people of Alabama who have been touched by this deeply saddening case.”

Atlanta Journal Constitution; Perdue calls for travel boycott of Aruba

Gov. Sonny Perdue encouraged Georgians on Thursday to boycott travel to Aruba to protest the way officials there have handled the disappearance of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.

Perdue joins Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Alabama Gov. Bob Riley in calling for a boycott of the Dutch Caribbean island.

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is encouraging Georgians to boycott Aruba to protest the way authorities on the Caribbean island have handled the disappearance of missing Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway.

Tomorrow in Washington, Alabama Congressman Spencer Bachus and a state delegation will meet with Aruban investigators to discuss the Holloway case.

Before people start with the talking points of this is just being done for political reasons or making the other nonsensical racist Southern comments there are a couple of things to understand. Riley, Huckabee and Perdue; all southern Republican Governors in “red” states are in no fear of losing any elections any time soon. Also, I have seen the derogatory comments already that Sonny Perdue is a racist. Really? One should familiarize themselves with Georgia politics before making such accusations.

It was Sonny Perdue and the Republican legislature (who gained control for the first time in a century) in GA in 2005 who repeal the Jim Crow Laws from the state’s legal code.

Enough of the derogatory comments, some just feel its the right thing to do. After all it is not mandatory, Perdue, Riley and Huckabee are simply making a request to stand with the Holloway and Twitty’s.
