Austan Goolsbee, Obama’s New Chairman of the CEA: Unemployment Not Coming Down Anytime Soon

More bad economic news from Obama’s minions and then would not even commit to an answer …

More non-encouraging news from the Obama Administration, Austan Goolsbee, the new chairman of the Council of Economic Affairs (CEA) said on FNS that the unemployment rate would not be coming down any time soon. To make matters even worse, on ABC’s ‘This Week’ broadcast Sept. 12, 2010, Goolsbee would not say how many jobs would be created by the $50 billion second stimulus plan.

President Obama’s new chairman of the Council of Economic Affairs (CEA) said Sunday that the national unemployment rate will not decrease significantly anytime soon.

Austan Goolsbee, who Obama announced on Friday will replace Christina Romer as head of the CEA, told “Fox News Sunday” that the president is doing all he can to help the economy, but the recession was so deep, it will take some time for employment numbers to recover.

“I don’t think the unemployment rate will be coming down significantly at any time in the near future,” Goolsbee said.

Unemployment for the nation reached 9.6 percent in August, and Goolsbee and other White House officials regularly concede they expect it to get worse before it gets better.

Is it any wonder why in the most recent Rasmussen poll, 48% of American voters gave Barack Obama poor marks on the economy. Just the other day an AP poll showed that Obama was at an all time low at 41% in handling the economy.  Thus the reason why Obama’s job approval rating is like most people’s mortgages …. underwater.

But 48% of voters still say the president is doing a poor job when it comes to handling the economy, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Thirty-six percent (36%) rate the president’s performance on the economic front as good or excellent.

With unemployment not coming down anytime soon, look for Democrats to get hammered in the 2010 midterm elections. It’s pretty bad when ahead of the election the WH feels the need to put out there that there is no job relief coming any time soon in the foreseeable future. Imagine just how bad the job numbers really are?
