Natalee Holloway: Aruba Truth.com Response to the boycott of Aruba

Yesterday Governor Bob Riley of Alabama called for a boycott of Aruba and today the Aruban reaction begins to come out. A boycott called for due to the lack of cooperation and communication by the family with Aruban investigators and prosecutors. ArubaTruth.com responds to the announced boycott with the following article, Alabama Governor Makes Wrong Call On Boycott. I would tend to say the Aruban reaction may be even worse.
It was meant to be high drama. The call for a boycott of travel to Aruba by Alabama Governor Riley turned into farce.
The Governor agreed with Beth Twitty that the prosecutor had failed in their investigation and that the family was not being told what they knew.
A farce? With all due respects folks, have you taken a good look at the investigation in to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway? One might say the investigation has been a farce. Two black security guards arrested while the last three known people were free to walk about Aruba for the first ten day. A complete search of the Vand der Sloot property never performed even when both Joran and Paulus Van der Sloot were considered suspects at the time and both in jail. This while Aruban authorities had no problem doing complete searches of both security guards homes. Ten days go by and evidence lost or might have been destroyed in the search of Joran Van der Sloots apartment and the Kalpoe’s residence and property. In a Aruban legal system that differs greatly from that what most Americans are accustomed to granted there is much confusion. However, in Aruba there is the ability to arrest first and ask questions later that differs greatly from the American system. Which makes it all the more curious to everyone how the last three people to ever be seen with Natalee Holloway and who lied initially as to what happened that fateful evening were allowed to walk the streets of Aruba free. And you throw the word farce out?

A boycott will diminish the families’ influence on Aruba’s citizens who have done everything to help. It will harden the outlook of investigators, who are weary of being told they are incompetent. And it will generate anger among business interests that have supported and called for a transparent investigation from the start.
Let us not forget that it was ArubaTruth.com that ran a post, Dave Holloway Says No Boycott and Task Force Finds Volunteers For New Search, praising Dave Holloway for his stance against any boycott when Dr. Phil originally referenced one.
Natalee Holloway’s father was very clear in the interview that he does not agree with Dr. Phil McGraw’s call for Americans to boycott Aruba.
“I can speak for myself. I have family and friends who have regular jobs and I don’t see why a 100 thousand people should be penalized for the actions of possibly three or more individuals who are not even from this island.”
Dave Holloway has been praised by all in America and Aruba, even by those who have tended to disagree with Beth Twitty. No one including Aruban officials, government, ALE, prosecutors or even the web site for the Strategic Communications Task Force has ever had a bad word to say about Dave Holloway or his conduct.
Does it ever dawn on any of you, especially those in Aruba, how a self proscribed “man of patience” managed to lose his and sign a 5 page letter to the Aruban Attorney General calling for new investigators and prosecutors? Why would anyone think Dave Holloway changed his mind and now supports the calling of a boycott of Aruba as directed by Alabama Governor Riley?
“I do not have a formal response available at this time, but I will support the decisions of elected officials and therefore support what the Alabama government has decided to do,” Holloway said in a telephone interview Tuesday evening. “The Aruban people elected their officials to make decisions in the best interests of their people, and we have done the same. The Alabama governor made a decision on Natalee’s behalf, so I will support that position.”
Even men of patience lose their patience when pushed to the limit. Maybe Aruba, its officials, government and its people should look to the reason why Dave Holloway (a man all respected) has changed his mind and felt no other alternative? Stop blaming other people and take a good look at an investigation and lack of cooperation that Dave Holloway had to deal with the last time he was in Aruba. An investigation that both Dompig and Aruban PM Nelson Oduber admitted mistakes were made.
Explain the reason why a patient man like Dave changed his mind when all he wants is to find his daughter and has been pushed to the brink and Aruba you will find the answers as to where the problems really lie. Instead the answer is to do something to the contrary.
“Aruba will fight this with the only real arsenal they have, the good will of travelers who have come here and continue to because, it is, still a safe and secure place to find refuge and relax.
Aruba may want to look at the Amigo article, Aruba asks the Netherlands for help.
The biggest concern is the fact that 27 percent consider Aruba to be an unsafe place to go to. Aruba has dropped from the second to the seventh place on the list of safe vacation destinations and is now almost at the same level as Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
The response from Aruba to the boycott hardly seems like the way to preventing one from happening. The fact that one had to be called is unfortunate. It does not have to occur if cooler minds prevail in Aruba. Having communication and cooperation in an investigation hardly seems like asking a lot when it comes to the disappearance of a daughter.
