Indiana Senate Election 2010: Dan Coats (R) 51%, Brad Ellsworth (D) 30%

In the run up to this November’s midterm elections for the UN Senate seat in Indiana … Republican Dan Coats has a sizable majority in the latest Rasmussen poll over Democrat candidate Brad Ellsworth. Coats leads Ellsworth 51% to 30%for the US Senate seat presently held by retiring Democrat Evan Bayh.

Indiana still has the look of a likely Republican Senate pickup, with former Senator Dan Coats remaining comfortably ahead of his Democratic opponent Brad Ellsworth

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds Coats with 51% support, while Ellsworth earns 30% of the vote, his poorest showing to date. Six percent (6%) favor some other candidate in the race, while 12% remain undecided.

Put a fork in the Democrat party for the Indiana US Senate seat, even if all the undecided vote went for Ellsworth, which is not likely top occur, Coats still wins. This marks one of the many Republican pick ups that the GOP with have in the US Senate this Fall in the midterm elections. The Republican party needs a total net pickup of 10 Senate seats to take over control of the Senate.

Try as the Democrats might to paint Coats as the EVIL lobbyist, they have filed miserably. Ellswoth is down 21 points to Coats and the Dems can’t bring in Obama to stump for the Donkey candidate as it might make Ellsworth’s poll numbers even worse.

Why does Dan Coats have a commanding lead over his Democrat rival? Maybe because only 9% of Indiana voters rate the economy as good or excellent, while49% say it’s poor. It’s all about JOBS, JOBS, JOBS while Obama and Democrats have been focused on Obamacare, Cap & Trade and now suing Arizona over its illegal immigration law. Just like the Democrat Governors want the WH to discuss job creation, so do the people of Indiana.

Fifty-nine percent also are in favor of repealing the health care bill that Ellsworth supported as a member of the House, while 35% oppose repealing it. Also, 61% of Indiana voters favor passage of a law like Arizona’s in their state, and just 25% oppose such a bill.

In the end, the Hoosier state realizes that the only real way to get hope and change is to vote Democrats out of power.
