Florida Republican Primary for Senate 2010: Rubio Up Big … Rubio 54%, Crist 36%

Marco Rubio pulls out even farther ahead of Charlie Christ in the race for the Republican nomination for US Senate of Florida. Rubio now leads Christ 54% to 36% which represents a 5% point gain from last months polling.

Former state House Speaker Marco Rubio continues to lengthen his lead over Governor Charlie Crist in the contest for Florida’s Republican Senate nomination.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Republican Primary voters finds Rubio leading Crist by 18 points, 54% to 36%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent are undecided.

Florida Republicans do not vote for their nominee until an August 24 primary; however, at this point it would take a miracle for Christ to make up the difference. The polling trend is toward Rubio as  in December 2009 the two candidates were tied at 43% apiece. Christ has made one too many1 photo-op embracing Barack Obama and his $787 billion stimulus package for Republican tastes. Once again this is a clear indicator that the Republican party is choosing more Conservative candidates to run in 2010.
