Barack Obama, the Disappointer in Chief … Obama loses support of Independents.
Over the weekend at the Tea Party Convention in Nashville, TN keynote speaker Sarah Palin asked the audience and America … “How’s that hope-y, change-y stuff working out for you?” According to the most recent polling, not well.
A new Marist College poll is out and it is more terrible news for President Barack Obama. 47% of American voters disapprove of the President’s handling of his job as compared to 44% approve.

Obviously Republican and Democrat support of Barack Obama is polarised; however, it is the Independent vote, the individual that does not belong to either party that is the real story in this and all polls lately. They are running from Obama and his liberal policies as fast as they can. They are obviously disappointed in the change that Obama has brought to Washington, DC. Obama has only a 29% job approval among Independents.
Perhaps, particularly concerning for Mr. Obama is the drop in support among Independents. For the first time since taking office, a majority of Independents — 57% — disapproves of how he is doing in the role. 29% approve, and 14% are unsure.
Independent voters see Pres. Obama in a negative light by a nearly 2-1 margin.
Independent voters see Pres. Obama in a negative light by a nearly 2-1 margin, according to a new Marist College survey, while almost half of voters say he has failed to meet their expectations.
The poll, conducted Feb. 1-3, showed just 44% of registered voters approving of Obama’s job as president. 47% disapprove. But among indie voters, Obama’s approval rating sits at a terrible 29%, while his disapproval rating is at 57%.
Obama’s 44% job approval rating is the lowest he has scored in any non-internet poll since moving into the WH, according to a review of data compiled by Pollster.com.
And while GOPers strive to avoid attacking Obama personally, for fear of offending voters who see him in a favorable light personally, even that aura of invincibility is wearing off. Independent voters view Obama negatively, too, by a 39% favorable to 52% unfavorable margin. All registered voters still see Obama favorably by a 50%-44% margin, but that’s down 5 points in just 2 months.
To many Obama has turned out to be a great disappointment as President.
47% of registered voters nationwide report President Obama has fallen below their expectations. 42% say he has met their expectations while just 7% think he has exceeded them. Slightly more members of the electorate currently think the president has let them down compared with Marist’s December survey. …
57% of Democrats report the president has met their expectations while 65% of Republicans see him as falling short. While these proportions are little changed from December, Independents’ impressions of the president have slipped. 53% of Independents report Mr. Obama has not risen to the occasion. This compares with 43% who thought he had fallen below their expectations in Marist’s December survey.
