Florida Senate Election 2010: Senate: Crist, Rubio Still Way Ahead of Democrat Meek

The latest Rasmussen polling shows that in The Sunshine State, both Republican candidates Charlie Christ and Marco Rubio are still way out ahead of Democrat challenger Kendrick Meek for the Florida Senate seat, 48% – 33% and 49% – 32%, respectively.

Both Republican hopefuls hold a double-digit lead over their likeliest Democratic opponent, Congressman Kendrick Meek, in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey of this year’s race for the U.S. Senate in Florida.
Governor Charlie Crist now has a 15-point lead on Meek among likely Florida voters, 48% to 33%. Given this match-up, 10% prefer another candidate, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.Former House Speaker Marco Rubio now posts a 17-point lead on Meek, 49% to 32%.
Florida appears to be a Republican Senate hold for 2010: however, the real story in the US Florida Senate race is for the Republican nomination. It is clear that either Christ or Rubio will soundly defeat the Democrat; however, it has been a battle royal for the Republican spot on the ticket. After having a sizable lead, Charlie Christ now tied with Marco Rubio at 43% to 43%.
Crist’s support has fallen from 53% in August to 49% in October. Rasmussen Reports noted at the time, “The fact that Crist has fallen below 50% in a primary against a lesser known opponent suggests potential vulnerability.”

Former state House Speaker Marco Rubio has now jumped to a 12-point lead over Governor Charlie Crist in Florida’s Republican Primary race for the U.S. Senate.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely GOP Primary voters in the state finds Rubio leading Crist 49% to 37%. Three percent (3%) prefer another candidate, and 11% are undecided.
