Obama White House Press Sec Gibbs Says Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Will be Executed after Tried & Convicted

This morning on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Barack Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stated that the master mind of the World Trade Center bombing on September 11. 2001 … Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would likely be executed after he was tried and convicted.

Accused Sept. 11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is likely to be executed after being tried and convicted, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Sunday.

Gibbs spoke on CNN’s “State of the Union.” The Obama administration has begun looking for places other than the heart of New York City to prosecute Mohammed and four alleged co-conspirators in the face of fierce criticism tied to security and costs.

What was the reason why Barack Hussein Obama and AG Eric Holder took Khalid Sheikh Mohammed out of the military tribunals and put him into a civilian court? They stated that they wanted the world to see how US Courts would fairly and justly handle KSM.  Such a statement by the Presidential spokesman would seen to do just the opposite and prejudge the trial.

Hmm, Obama spokesman says that KSM will be tried, convicted and executed … so I guess we are forced to agree with FiredogLake, why have the trial then? If this is the case then why not keep it in a military tribunal and save the costs of a civilian trial?

Am I the only person left who still remembers a legal concept called presumption of innocence? Am I the only one who remembers that the whole point of a trial is that the outcome is not certain?
You don’t. So stop shooting you mouth off and calling our system of justice and the dedicated professionals of both bench and bar in the Southern District of New York into disrepute.

Listen, the White House needs to back off and let the professionals handle this trial. USAO SDNY and the judges of SDNY are pros at this. David Axelrod is not. Robert Gibbs is not. People who have no clue what they are talking about, need to back out of this loop, now.

This is what happens when a Presidential Administration that is perceived to be weak on terror tries to politicize the war on terror. The Obama Administration has already had to do an about face when it came to trying KSM and other 911 terrorists in NYC. What next, back to GITMO and military tribunals?
